BREAKING: Roanoke TV Station Refuses to Air False NRCC Attack on Perriello

by: teacherken

Thu Jul 02, 2009 at 16:58:32 PM EDT

I am putting this directly on front page, given breaking nature of this news.  It is a press release from Tom Perriello's office:
Roanoke TV Station Refuses to Air False NRCC Attack on Perriello

WDBJ-TV, a Roanoke television station, refused to air a false National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) attack ad on Congressman Tom Perriello (VA-05).  The false NRCC ad used information about the clean energy jobs bill that the independent, nonpartisan organization FackCheck.org called "wrong."

"The NRCC has a track record of running ads so deceptive and misleading that local TV stations refuse to air them or have to remove from the airwaves," said Jessica Santillo, Southern Regional Press Secretary.  "Clearly, Washington Republicans realize that the truth is not on their side so they resort to deceptive and false attack ads.  Virginians deserve to hear the facts about how this bill will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, not be subject to scare tactics."

We should write thank-yous to the station (WDBJ-7)for being responsible and refusing to air lies.

"One person, one vote" died at the hands of SCOTUS, January 21, 2010

Perriello is getting hammered in LTE to The News and Advance( Lynchburg). Write Letters to our psper..especially if anyone reading here lives in the 5th CD.

Every Dem "Elected" will have a microphone in their hand this weekend (0.00 / 0)
This is the kind of "Swift Boating" BS that needs to be highlighted by our side.... It's one thing to be criticized for our positions accurately.... Lies are not acceptable and shouldn't be to anybody.... Also, I totally agree with Kathy, every press secretary or campaign manager should thank the media that applied truth to their telecasts.  It may start a bigger trend....

Courageous leadership... (0.00 / 0)
...has a glorious way of spreading.

Al Gore's courage in speaking up about climate change emboldened Obama and Congressional leaders to stand up on the issue which made it easier for members like Perriello to boldly vote their conscience, which in turn perhaps helped WDBJ muster the courage to stand up against misinformation and reject this campaign of distortion.

For more information on how courage can spread, see what's happening on the streets of Iran right now, or what happened in the 13 American colonies 233 years ago.  What Jefferson did then, and what Perriello and WBDJ did today, makes me damn proud to be a Virginian.

I saw something (0.00 / 0)
about this (the station refusing to accept the ad) on ThinkProgress (Blue Commonwealth is my last port of call for the day) and my jaw dropped. Literally. A TV station fact checking before pocketing the cash??? The end of the world (as we know it) must be nigh; I'm afraid I'm about to be raptured...

So you consider yourself pre-saved? (0.00 / 0)
(Why else would you be raptured?) Such good fortune.... I never thought a darned liberal would be raptured.
